A true freedom fighter doesn’t need a certificate

15 ex-freedom fighters recently discovered a historic house in Chandrapur village, Kaliganj upazila where almost five hundred freedom fighters received shelter and training during the Liberation War fifty years ago. The 15 war veterans, including camp commanders and trainers, visited the house to pay tribute to Izzat Ali Master, the wife of Razia Khatun. Their selfless support and contribution enabled freedom fighters to obtain extensive combat training in India. To their dismay, war veterans discovered that Izzat Ali Masters, from whom they received their first basic training, was not officially recognized as a freedom fighter. He died in 2006 at the age 79. Izzat Ali Masters used his house, which was located one-half kilometre from India's border, as a transit camp.
